This book would, I'm sure, have been a fascinating read in print form. The one-armed John Wesley Powell headed the first group of scientists, or anyone, to ever make the arduous trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, a trip even the Native American inhabitants believed to be impossible. The Kindle version, however, is filled with indecipherable typos, and breaks into

the middle of paragraphs with annoying and misplaced headers (like that one), that interrupt the narrative flow arbitrarily, often several

times on a single page. I only fought my way to the end of the book because the story was so compelling, a first-person narrative of a fantastic adventure told in a near-offhand, casual manner, as tho a quick, two-hour hike to the top of a 2800' cliff through chasms and rockfalls with dizzying drops only inches away just to see what perils lay ahead was a normal workaday event. Which, for the record, it was for these amazing gentlemen. Kindle seriously needs to address the ruinous formatting of this book. Myself, I will be getting my hands on the actual hardback print version so I can enjoy this true-life adventure without the painful frustration the Kindle version presents.

The item met my expectation and I am very happy with it.
Slow
Enjoying this book very much. These men were true adventurers.
A factual book and very interesting. A good addition to my collection of non-fiction and one that I will reread at another time.
Who could match John Wesley Powell
Great book. The first of its kind and still and excellent description of the Grand Canyon. I rafted the canyon in April before reading the book, and often it would still serve as a decent guide book. It's also a fun read.
Kept me interested while I ride my exercise bike. Very interesting about the details of the canyon. I recommend to anyone liking the rugged outdoors.
